Qualified Buyer Meetings

Updated: Feb 10, 2022

Selling your company

We provide coaching and attend all meetings with you carefully managing exposure.

Prior to exploratory initial meetings we will facilitate a training session, including some coaching and role play to help you avoid common pitfalls and field any awkward questions. You may have limited experience in selling a business, however you may be meeting with experienced and seasoned acquirers and it's important to tip the balance more in your favour.

The initial meetings are exploratory in nature, facilitating an exchange of information, identifying the strategic fit between your company and the prospective acquirers organisation. The initial meeting is more about synergy rather than financials and building a positive working relationship.

We usually start by asking the acquirer to give a presentation about their organisation and explain why they are interested in the opportunity. This enables you to understand the acquirers motives and align your presentation to their expectations.

exitbydesign will chair the meeting and intervene to assist with awkward questions or to disallow questions if they are considered commercially sensitive. Our advisors will also ask pertinent questions to tease out synergies and benefits in the opportunity.

After the meeting we will debrief with you summarising the synergies and benefits that can be used in future negotiations. Following an initial exploratory meeting some acquirers may request a second meeting before submitting an initial indicative offer.
